Shawn’s Story
Shawn is a lifelong resident of Barnes County. He had a dairy operation with his father in the 1980s and 90s. Since getting out of the dairy business he began working on a farming operation in 1998 and has worked there since. Shawn served on the Maple Valley school board and the Barnes County Water Resource District for 3 terms each. He now serves on the Cuba township board and the Barnes County Commission.
Shawn and his wife Christy have been married for 35 years. Christy is a nurse and works in Valley City. They have two grown children. Shane, their eldest, is married to Amanda and they have a son, Calvin. Their daughter Mindy is living and working in Valley City.
Aside from work and serving on the township board and commission, you can often find Shawn making hay and spending time with friends and family.
My Values
Shawn believes the role of legislators and government is to work for the people, not get in their way or block their right to freedoms. With common sense legislation without overreach, District 24 can receive the services it deserves and has been paying taxes for. Shawn values integrity, honesty, and not shying away from difficult conversations.
My Commitment
I believe in building relationships with anyone committed to bettering the lives of North Dakotans. I commit to working to ensure we have a government that works for the people, not for politicians and big money.
If elected to serve you, I commit to being available, responsive, and transparent about what is going on in Bismarck and about the work I will be doing for you to ensure a better life for all of us in Barnes and Ransom counties.
